Review by George Norman (Cybersecurity Editor)

on 19 Jan 2015

Here’s my daily routine: when I leave for work, I unplug my USB stick and put it in my pocket; when I get to work, I plug it in and use it throughout the day; when I leave for home, I unplug the USB stick, put it in my pocket, and go home; when I get home, I plug it in and access the files I have on it.

To be completely honest, this routine is getting tiresome. And because it is getting tiresome, I am perfectly suited to see the appeal in using FlexiHub. You see, thanks to FlexiHub I can remotely access and remotely manage my USB devices. From my work PC, I can access my USB stick that is connected to my home PC. That is, I’m glad to say, very useful functionality indeed!

FlexiHub works with 32- and 64-bit Windows editions: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Server 2003, 2005, and 2012. Download an installer, run it, and the setup wizard that shows up will help you install FlexiHub on a PC powered by any of the aforementioned Windows editions.

To get started with FlexiHub, it’s not enough to install the FlexiHub software on your Windows PC. You also have to sign up for a FlexiHub account. The nice thing here is that it will take little time and a minimum amount of effort to sign up for an account.

Please note that you will have to install FlexiHub on all your PCs. Take my example for, well, example: install FlexiHub on the work PC and log in; install FlexiHub on the home PC and log in; from FlexiHub’s user friendly interface then view, access, manage USB devices connected to these PCs.

I take security seriously and so should you. I bring this up only to mention that FlexiHub uses 256-bit SSL encryption. This means that all the data you transfer to and from your USB devices is sent over a secure connection.

Several subscriptions are available for FlexiHub: Free, Basic, Professional, and Business. FlexiHub Free comes with several limitations: register only 2 PCs, connect but 1 USB device, continuous USB connection is limited to 20 minutes, no redirection server.

Stop plugging and unplugging USB devices, stop carrying USB devices with you. Thanks to FlexiHub you can remotely view, access, and manage your USB devices.

Pros

FlexiHub works with 32- and 64-bit Windows editions, any edition from XP onward. It’s very easy to sign up for a FlexiHub account. Several subscriptions are available for FlexiHub: Free, Basic, Professional, and Business. Thanks to FlexiHub you can remotely access your USB devices (access the USB device that is plugged into your PC at home from your PC at work for example).

Cons

Free version limitations: link 2 nodes, share 1 USB device, continuous USB connection is limited to 20 minutes, no redirection server.
